Samurai is one of the words which symbolize Japan. The name of national Japanese football team, “Samurai Japan” also takes after this word, and this word is familiar in all over the world, as well.

The Bushido is the belief of samurai, of which stoical idea and spiritual mind fascinate many people overseas.

The Japanese strength of orderly manner may also come from this Bushido.

It is said kabuto was used by samurai in wartime. Samurai put kabuto during wartime in order to protect their heads from the stroke, impact, or falling obstructions. Besides the protection, kabuto also had the role of showing off the power of the person who wears it.

In Europe, there used to be the same kind of helmet called armet helm, but the structure was relatively simpler than that of kabuto.

There is no such helmet like kabuto that shows off the powerfulness. It definitely can be said that kabuto is really unique traditional culture in Japan.

Today, I’ll show you how to make the kabuto from origami.
