He has written many works at KARAKURIJAPAN as an instructor of iro-moji.

And he has another title other than a calligrapher. He is also a guitarist!

He plays the guitar in various group such as “colors” a duo with a ukulele player, “Osaka chacha band” a band with handicapped people, and “machan band” a band playing music of Okinawa.

He is a calligrapher and a guitarist at the same time. He wears two hats!

And this Mr. Nishimoto wrote the letter “morning” in iro-moji. It’s called “asa” in Japanese.

Let’s take a look at his explanation before I introduce the work.

Are you sleepy in the morning? I am sleepy.

I’ve expressed drowsy look like “…Good Morning…(with a yawn)”

Mr, Nishimoto, who has written many amazing works, represented sleepy feeling at this time.

It’s seemed difficult to represent sleepy feeling in iro-moji. How did he make it?

Then I’ll introduce his work!

How Mr. Nishimoto wrote “morning”

I’ll explain it here, and also you can see the details in the video! Please watch it!

▲At first he wrote the letter with water to make base. Usually he writes the whole letter with water before he puts colors, but at this time he started putting colors before he finished writing the letter fully. The first color was green. And then he used yellow and purple.

▲He completed the base while putting colors. It’s artistic. It looks a painting rather than a letter.

▲He put more and more colors. It looks fantastic and clear. Beautiful!

Then, how did it become?

He represented sleepy feeling in the morning. I can get this sleepy atmosphere from the work.

This work has many light colors. However, it’s not vivid, but soft.

And that’s how amazing he is to represent that with colors and calligraphy!

Thanks Mr. Nishimoto for another amazing work!

Everyone can try iro-moji with some tools. And there is no correct answer in iro-moji.

You can write the only work in the world by writing the letter and putting colors as you feel.

Let’s write your own work!
